Infographic and visual abstract design: a practical course in collaboration with Amsterdam Young Academy (AYA)

This course offers a practical and insightful approach to designing compelling information graphics. You will gain a thorough understanding of what information graphics are and will delve into the key design principles necessary to craft clear and impactful information graphics. Special emphasis will be placed on visual abstracts, a form of information graphic that visually summarizes the core message of research articles.

By the end of this course, you will be able to: 

1) Develop the skills required to design effective information graphics, with a focus on visual abstracts.

2) Create a visual abstract from scratch, employing various design tools and techniques.

The course consists of four sessions:

Session 1: “Introduction to Information Graphics”

Session 2: “Design Principles and Workflow”

Session 3: “Hands-On Visual Abstract Creation”

Session 4: “Presentation and Discussion”
